Canaan's Closets

Closet/storage locations will be requested in the Stage 1 schools. Closet locations should be discrete in manner of who comes and goes, and will contain everyday necessities, school supplies, shoes, and clothing. Apparel for school aged children will seasonally be available. Winter coats, hats, and snow pants will be available as funding and inventory expands.

Project Y.E.S.

Youth Experiencing Success.

ProjectY.E.S. goals include:

Improving daily attendance, academic performance and social skills, developing good study and organizational skills, good

communication skills, and a strong sense of independence and identity, setting healthy expectations, and educational and

career goals.

Project Y.E.S. offers student incentives and rewards for positive attitude, good grades, good attendance, and showing improvement. Students may earn opportunities such as job shadowing, field trips and/or cultural activities

ATHLETICS 

To provide access to uniforms and equipment needed to participate in athletics. We believe sports play an integral part in the socialization and development of a child. No child should be deprived of the athletic experience based on inability to purchase required attire and equipment.

After School Program for the Arts and Cultural Experiences

Organization funded 2 hours after school program to run following the end of school day.

Funding will provide:

  • Money for enrichment, food, computers, art supplies.

  • and staffing.

  • Minimum staffing will be required by state local regulations.

  • Staff will be certified in CPR/First Aid/AED.

    • Canaan is qualified as an instructor and can offer free digital AHA approved training/certifications to save organizational costs.

  • A structured curriculum will be designed, reviewed, and approved by the Organization’s Board with feedback from staff.

    • Curriculum should include an allotted time for tutoring and assistance in homework.

    • Students who finish homework will be provided with cultural enrichment activities until allotted time is complete and snacks/art activities can be began as a group.

    • Cultural education training media will be instructed in future aspirations of incorporating education into congruent organization funded field trips.

  • Spacing requirements

    • After school program space will be required and secured with easiest logistical means for parents with students enrolled in the program.

    • Students will have to be enrolled on an application program for starting operations to be consistent with local and state regulations.

    • Space optimally can be inside school, and transportation can be researched with regards to children with transportation restrictions.
