ABOUT US
Growing up, I and my six sisters and two brothers experienced a childhood marred by abuse and neglect. Our mother and stepfather were responsible for most of our care, but my brother and sister were taken away by Social Services due to child abuse. The remaining five of us were subjected to further abuse, including starvation as punishment for not having a clean enough house, physical abuse for small infractions, and emotional manipulation. I watched my mother attempt suicide on multiple occasions, a traumatic experience that deeply impacted me. As a result, I struggled with depression and attempted suicide twice before the age of 14.
Despite the darkness of my childhood, I am determined to use my experiences to create a positive impact on the lives of children who may be facing similar struggles. That is why I founded Canaan's Cause, a non-profit organization that aims to provide lasting funds to provide children in need with back-to-school supplies, clothing, and extracurricular activities. Through fundraising, we hope to support similar organizations that can provide aid and support to children and families affected by abuse and neglect. We believe in fostering positive relationships, building resilience, and fostering a positive attitude towards learning, to empower children with the confidence and self-esteem they need to thrive in their academic pursuits.
I am committed to using my personal experiences as a child to pay it forward and make a difference in the lives of those who may find themselves in similar situations as I did. It is my mission to ensure that every child is given the chance for a brighter future.
